GoodThings partnered with UA Gateway and Mrs. Palumbo’s AP Digital Design & Animation class to integrate our 20 Jobs in Footwear curriculum into the classroom through a hands-on design competition. As part of the students' personal portfolios, they developed product concepts and pitches while applying real-world design, storytelling, and industry thinking.

We also collaborated with Mrs. Palumbo and Gateway faculty to co-create a school shoe that reflects Gateway’s broader vision, not only as a technical institution, but as a learning environment that values creativity, expression, and design-driven futures.

Student Design

The Ocean Carver is to represent water and with its immense and seemingly endless expanse and evokes a deep sense of fear and unease. Its vastness, stretching far beyond what the eye can see, symbolizes the unknown and mysterious forces that lie beneath its surface. Furthermore, the endless depths of the ocean, dark and unfathomable, represent a terrifying realm that humans can never fully understand or control. This fear stems not only from the danger it poses but also from the way it reminds us of our own vulnerability in the face of such an overwhelming and unpredictable natural force.

School Design

The Urban Assembly Gateway School for Technology sneaker was thoughtfully designed to represent the heart of our school community. This sneaker serves as a wearable symbol of identity, innovation, and belonging, reflecting our art and technology-focused mission rooted in collaboration, creativity, and growth. More than just footwear, the Gateway Tech sneaker celebrates our students, staff, alumni, and families, honoring the dedication of those who came before us and inspiring pride and support for the generations yet to come.
